Membership Information and Application

Please join your professional organization!

Purpose:
The American Association of Medical Dosimetrists is an international society established to promote and support the Medical Dosimetry profession. We provide opportunities for education, a forum for professional interaction and a representative voice in the healthcare community. The Society seeks to promote an ideal of professional conduct to which its members should aspire and endorses the highest standards of patient care.

Membership:
All memberships are renewed annually and follow the calendar year schedule. Status of membership in the AAMD should reflect a current Member’s career position. Members are required to change their membership status as their position in the profession changes. The dues amounts listed below are valid for 2007.

Instructions

  1. Complete the appropriate application form. All non-CMD (Certified Medical Dosimetrist) applicants attach a photocopy of your job description or an explanation as to why a job description is not applicable.

  2. Student applicants: Enclose a letter, written on letterhead, from your medical dosimetry education program director indicating start and end dates of your program, a copy of the program of study with course descriptions and a sample class schedule. (Students from JRCERT accredited programs excluded).

  3. Enclose a USD$30.00 non-refundable application processing fee (students excluded) in the form of a check or money order, payable in U.S. funds, or pay by credit card and send to:

  4. The AAMD Membership Committee will review your materials and recommend a specific membership category. Please allow a review period of 30 days.

  5. You will be notified by mail of your membership category and appropriate dues amount. The payment of dues entitles you to receive MEDICAL DOSIMETRY, the official journal of the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists; national and regional mailings, job placement notices, and reduced meeting rates (Student Members excluded).

Membership Categories

Individuals who fail to meet these specific requirements, but who can demonstrate adequate experience and education will be considered for membership.

  • Full CMD Members: (2007 DUES: USD$150.00/year) *
    Individuals who are primarily and professionally engaged in the application of medical radiation dosimetry. They shall have a minimum of one year full-time experience or six months experience and a certificate of completion from a dosimetry or medical physics educational program. (CMD’s use Full Member CMD application)

  • Full Non-CMD and Associate Members: (2007 DUES: USD$150.00/year) *
    Individuals who are interested in the field of medical radiation dosimetry, but who are ineligible for Full or Student membership. (Associate members use Individual Application)

  • Student Members: (DUES: USD$50.00 per year) *
    Full-time students in a JRCERT-accredited educational program for a career in medical dosimetry. Full-time students in a program with the JRCERT-application in process for a career in medical dosimetry. The application fee is waived for Student members.(Students use Student Application)

  • Honarary Members:
    Individuals who have rendered outstanding service in the field of medical radiation dosimetry. By nomination only, contact Membership Committee Chairperson for more
    information.


  • Corporate Membership:
    Corporate Membership is available to corporations or institutions to promote the interests of the society.

* Note: Each year, $47.00 of your membership dues goes towards a subscription to MEDICAL DOSIMETRY
