News Release
April 3, 2014 (Herndon, VA) – The AAMD Education and Research Foundation (AAMDERF) proudly announced today that a Medical Dosimetry scholarship program has been initiated through 2015, thanks to the generous financial support of Varian Medical Systems.
Varian has agreed to fund scholarships for students entering educational programs in Medical Dosimetry while providing additional monetary support to the Foundation over the next two years for a total contribution of $100,000. The Varian Medical Systems Foundation makes grants, donations and gifts to non-profit organizations that provide information and services involving the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer, with a special emphasis on funding programs that address the role of radiation therapy in treating cancer.
This extraordinary contribution to the Foundation represents the first corporate sponsor donation assisting the Foundation in its mission to provide for the educational needs of Medical Dosimetrists. Founded in 2005, AAMDERF granted its first scholarships in 2009 with 30+ recipients of aid to date.
"This funding significantly enhances the ability of AAMDERF to provide the Medical Dosimetrist with the essential financial support for his/her education.
